TRAction co-leads Melanie Kloetzel and Sandra Lamouche are currently offering facilitation sessions in connection with their new film, Just Breathe, Okâwîmâwaskiy. Just Breathe, Okâwîmâwaskiy offers a journey into and out of climate anxiety. Examining the deep inequalities and inadequate nature of Eurocentric cultural responses to the climate crisis, as well as the cultural possibilities that exist in connecting to the land via Indigenous worldviews, Just Breathe, Okâwîmâwaskiy creates an opening for audiences to engage in a dialogue about reconciliation, the climate emergency and cross-cultural futures.
Through a one-hour session, Sandra and Melanie screen the 22-minute film and offer a facilitation session that allows audience to dig into the themes of climate change, inequality, migration, capitalism, Indigenous knowledge systems, collective responsibility, justice and interspecies relationships. Importantly, the sessions support participants to dissect their feelings, consider the connection between reconciliation and climate change, and consider alternatives in the face of the climate emergency.
