Slow Dance tours through Alberta and British Columbia

Kevin’s participatory public performance work, Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance Project, recently toured to communities across Alberta and British Columbia. Inspired by the clandestine act of cruising in gay culture, the project invites men into an intimate, silent slow dance on public street corners, accompanied by a video installation presented in gallery and public art spaces.

The regional tour saw presentations hosted by Theatre Outré at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge, the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art in Kelowna, and Crimson Coast Dance at the Nanaimo Public Library. Prior to this spring tour, Tender City was presented internationally and regionally in Fortaleza (Brazil), Mexico City, and Vancouver.
